5 raisons de ne pas faire de régime

Vous aimeriez perdre du poids (ou vous avez L’IMPRESSION que vous devez en perdre) et vous songez à vous mettre au régime? Lisez ce qui suit et réfléchissez bien avant de faire le saut…

À noter qu’il existe bien plus de raisons, mais en voici quelques unes:

1. Les régimes ne fonctionnent pas.
À long terme, les études nous montrent que 95 % des gens qui font un régime reprennent le poids perdu, et souvent avec quelques kilos supplémentaires. Les échecs ne font que s’accumuler et vous avez l’impression que c’est de votre faute, alors que c’est simplement la méthode qui n’est pas la bonne!

2. Les régimes nuisent à notre relation à la nourriture.
Souvent remplis de règles (parfois très farfelues) et d’aliments interdits, les diètes risquent de vous faire sentir coupable de manger certains aliments, de diminuer votre plaisir et de vous compliquer la vie (faire deux soupers, refuser des sorties au restaurant, ne plus savoir si ce que je mange est bon ou non…).

3. Les régimes entraînent l’effet « yo-yo ».
Lorsqu’on suit un régime drastique, le corps s’adapte et réduit légèrement sa dépense énergétique. Résultat: on prend du poids plus facilement lorsqu’on laisse tomber le régime. L’abandon d’une diète est également souvent suivi d’une période de « lune de miel » où on redécouvre (avec un peu trop d’entrain) les aliments plaisirs qui ont été complètement bannis pendant plusieurs semaines/mois. Cette « lune de miel » a pour conséquence de nous « prouver » à tord qu’on n’est « incapable » de se contrôler… alors on retourne au régime!

4. Les régimes augmentent notre préoccupation à l’égard du poids.
Selon un sondage chez les femmes québécoises, 73 % des répondantes affirment qu’elles veulent maigrir. Or, 50 % d’entre elles ont un poids tout à fait normal. Avoir une préoccupation excessive à l’égard de notre poids risque de nous faire sauter des repas, éviter certains aliments, limiter les contacts sociaux / refuser de participer à des événements, bref… nous empêcher de vivre!

5. Les régimes ne changent pas nos habitudes. 
Les causes du gain de poids sont multiples et sont souvent liées à des facteurs comportementaux / émotifs. En suivant un régime, on ne travaille pas à améliorer les facteurs qui ont provoqué le gain de poids – ils risquent donc d’être répétés aussitôt le régime arrêté.
